MY EXPERIENCE
MEDICAL SCHOOL
I attended and graduated from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine from 1997 to 2001.
RESIDENCY
My residency training was from Johns Hopkins Hospital from 2001 to 2005. In my final year I was appointed one of three Chief Residents.
ATTENDING PHYSICIAN
ADDITIONAL TRAINING
I have served for many years as Medical Director of 4 inpatient services, including Geriatric Psychiatry Hospital Services.
I have served many years as Medical Director of General Adult Inpatient and Outpatient psychiatry practices.
I have supervised hospital consult services.
I have owned and run a Medically Assisted Treatment substance Use recovery program in Nashville, TN.
I have supervised and treated patients in Partial Hospitalization Programs, Intensive Outpatient Programs, and exclusively outpatient programs. Many of these were substance use programs for "Dual Diagnosis" patients (which is jargon -- "Dual Diagnosis" just means patients who suffer from substance use disorders and other disorders such as depression).
I have trained Residents and Nurse Practitioners.
For many years I have held a specialized license to prescribe a product called buprenorphine. Some name brands for buprenorphine products include Suboxone, Subutex, and Zubsolv. This medicine is used to help people suffering from opioid addictions maintain sobriety. It is a remarkably useful and effective medication to help people maintain sobriety and a high level of functioning. This medicine has helped save marriages, jobs, families, and lives.
I am BOARD CERTIFIED.
